The situation comes when you have knowledge, but still, inaction is the major hurdle. This may have become a life pattern of some people. The car is perfect, and the tank is full. The only issue is the ignition.
Introduction
Some people face a situation when they know about the action to be performed but still will (not can’t) not do it. The
reason behind this is not any justification- it is just what they do not want to do.
The issue is with the ignition i.e. willingness. Later on, they also do not approve of this inaction.
Solution
The solution lies in their knowledge only. The action is
performed on two bases: i) willingness and ii) habit. Willingness, here, refers
to your awareness of the action-whether you are doing in pressure or fear. That
fear or pressure creates the willingness of your mind to perform action.
Second, some actions are performed even when you are not aware. This happens
with those actions which you have performed so many times that it goes deep
into your subconscious mind. Sub-conscious in the sense that you have not
explored or experienced that part of your mind.
The situation becomes worse when you perform an action owing to your habit, but you are not willing to perform that action. This is not like that. Identify yourself. This is the game of your mind. Your mind is giving you the options only. Interestingly, at that particular moment, the mind gives you only one thought or option and you fall deep into that thought.
The only thing you need to do is to keep watch on your
thoughts. You have the knowledge that this action is to be performed or not
to be performed. You also know the results. But when you ponder upon this, then
you find something is lacking which is not making you do an action or stop
that action. At that particular moment, you need to look into yourself. Watch
your thoughts. Your discriminatory power (buddhi-intellect) has become weak at
that time.
When you watch your thoughts, you will find you can even
keep checking on these thoughts. Keep watching your thoughts, you will find that
you can choose which thought or option you need to choose. Keep watching your
thought or options, you will find the thought or option you need to perform is
becoming firm in your mind. Like this, you need to practice. This may not
happen at once- it all depends on the intensity of your thoughts and your discriminatory
power (Buddhi- intellect).
When you practise watching your thoughts then you are going to develop a willingness towards that action. Sometimes, you do not even want to keep watch on your thoughts and same cycle continues. The solution to these types of situations is to raise your discriminatory power. This you can do by going into more and more basics of your existence, your Buddhi- intellect lies in your existence where you can find it and develop it. The more you go into basics, more stronger you find your buddhi. Self-motivation is very easy when you have strong discriminatory power (buddhit-intellect). This makes us think about discipline and motivation. This will be in the next blog.
Conclusion
Keep watch on your thoughts- you will find your way.
